ENVIRONMENTAL ORGANIZATIONS ACROSS THE U.S. CALL ON THEIR COMMUNITIES TO COMBAT THE CLIMATE CRISIS

Oregon Wildlife Foundation JOINS NATIONWIDE GIVING DAY TO CATALYZE SOLUTIONS ON ENVIRONMENT AND CLIMATE

As environmental philanthropy accounts for a mere 2% of all giving, the urgency of the climate crisis demands a more robust response. Oregon Wildlife Foundation is proud to be a part of Earth Gives Day, a dynamic nationwide initiative designed to invigorate support for nonprofits tackling critical environmental, climate and climate justice challenges.

Earth Gives Day, October 5, is the signature event of Earth Gives, a young 501(c)(3) nonprofit working to build a caring community by inspiring individual giving and change-making. With the planet facing unprecedented heat, wildfires and more frequent and extreme storms, Earth Gives Day serves as collective platform where investments can be made in organizations on the front lines of environmental work. This includes companies like Oregon Wildlife Foundation, which is working to empower the lasting conservation of fish and wildlife, and citizen enjoyment of our natural resources.

From September 11 to October 5, “25 Days of Giving” has been established to rally individuals to explore and support a variety of 501c3 organizations driving solutions both in local communities and globally. Donations and volunteer commitments can be made, bolstering each organization’s capacity to make a greater impact, faster.

Earth Gives also provides opportunities to make a difference beyond donating by offering educational experiences to inspire change. “Power Hour” programs will be hosted virtually throughout the 25 days of giving. These programs, set for 8pm EST/5pm PST are open to everyone and will offer actionable takeaways in key focus areas, including:

· Harvesting Resiliency through Regenerative Agriculture – September 18 - presented by the Regenerative Agriculture Foundation based in Minnesota

· Driving Climate Solutions with Policy and People Power September 26 – presented by Vermont-based Third Act and its founder and well-known climate activist and author Bill McKibben

· The YOU in Community Powered Change-Making – October 2 – presented by the Climate Justice Alliance embedded across the US working with urban and rural grassroots organizations

University students will be facilitating conversations after each of these presentations and special guests will be on hand to welcome all those who sign up to participate, including two attorneys who were successful in the recent court decision Held v. Montana.

Earth Gives Day and its Power Hours provide people with one central place to find solutions, ideas and organizations with whom to engage. Among those participating in the 2023 class of featured nonprofits include diverse missions encompassing green energy solutions, scientific exploration, legal advocacy, ocean conservation, STEM education, wildlife caretaking, clean air and water initiatives, environmental justice advocacy and stewardship of national parks. While their work may be local or global in nature, their home states include Idaho, Alabama, Georgia, New Jersey, Florida, Arizona, California, Oregon, Washington, New Mexico, Vermont, Maine, the Hawaiian island of Maui, Montana, Tennessee, Massachusetts, Missouri and elsewhere.

Earth Gives is a 501c3 based in Phoenix, Arizona, an area of the country that broke heat records in 2023. The nonprofit catalyzes people, resources, and attention toward the climate crisis to establish a welcoming and livable world where humanity and the planet thrive. Its focus includes environmental philanthropy, community building and storytelling to address the most consequential issue of people-kind.
