Conserving Oregon in unpredictable times

Updated: Apr 20

Fortitude for the future

We find ourselves in unpredictable times. But we do see our future.

We're reaching out to you with the understanding that everyone is coming from a unique place in life, and is therefore experiencing this unprecedented virus outbreak differently. In order to keep our staff, families, community, and supporters healthy and safe, we have closed our Portland office as well as our gift store at Bonneville Fish Hatchery; and for the immediate future, our staff will be working remotely. We've also rescheduled our annual fundraiser originally set for this spring to a fall date. We are confident in these decisions, and are continuing to take care while still creatively cultivating support around our project partners, our work, and our mission.

Here are some ways you can continue to support our conservation community while staying safe and healthy

STAY ACTIVE

See what native plants are in your own backyard, scope out what seed a frequenting returning bird snacks on, or even journal the life cycle of your favorite spring flower in your neighborhood or yard. Safety and distancing is number one, but be sure to exercise and be outdoors within limits. Do not travel long distances and be sure to return to your home each day. Start a list of places to check out when visiting public spaces is safer. Here's one of our favorite spots to sneak away for fresh air. Check out AllTrails online or on their app make future plans.

SUPPORT SMALL BUSINESS

Even though our gift store, Spruce Gifts & Provisions, has physically shut their doors for public and staff safety, that doesn't mean they aren't available to mail you all of your Oregon-focused favs. Children's books, hiking guides, sturgeon sweatshirts...they have it all.

Catch up with them on Facebook or on email to see what's in store!

BRUSH UP ON OREGON

We support conservation projects from habitat restoration, to wildlife research, to discovery of wolverine in the Eagle Cap Wilderness. Did you catch all that?

While you're housebound, take a look at our Youtube channel, blog, and even podcast episodes to discover the breadth of our projects, discover what conservation work you connect with the most, and learn about how multifaceted approaches to conservation create a sustaining future for Oregon.

APPLY FOR A GRANT

Are you part of a tax-exempt organization, volunteer group with fiscal sponsorship, or an individual with a stand-alone or ongoing project? If so, let's chat!

We offer small grant awards for projects whose focus is on habitat restoration, public access, outdoor education, research and more. See our Grants page for details.
